Air Conditioning / Operator's Cab
Truck-type air conditioning system for operator's comfort in hot and/or humid climates. The air conditioner's compressor is engine driven.
Air Filter / Pre-Cleaner
Sy-Klone brand air filter pre-cleaner may be useful when the Trackmobile is operated in an extremely dirty and/or contaminated environment.
AUTO-MAG / Automatic Transmission
An electronic shift control system to automatically optimize range selection with engine torque requirements during all operations.
Automatic Engine Shutdown
Engine is automatically shutdown as the result of: (1) High Engine Temperature (2) Low Engine Oil Pressure (3) Low Coolant Level In Radiator. The engine shutdown is accomplished by discontinuing the fuel supply to the engine.
Bell / Warning / Air Operated
Air operated warning bell. Commonly used to warn of the movement and/or approach of the Trackmobile. Mechanical "On" / "Off" switch located in the operator's cab.
Bell / Warning / Electrically Operated
Electrically operated warning bell. Commonly used to warn of the movement and/or approach of the Trackmobile. Mechanical "On" / "Off" switch located in the operator's cab.
Cab Extension / Side
Extends approximately eight (8) inches (203.2 millimeters) out from the side of the operator's cab. The additional width allows for increased vision along the side of the railcars without exposing the operator to inclement weather.
Cap / Fuel Tank / Protect-O Seal
Installed in the fuel tank's filler neck to protect the tank's contents from possible fire and/or explosion while fueling and when the Trackmobile is in operation. The Protect-O-Seal fuel tank cap also helps prevent contaminants from entering the fuel tank.
Centralized Lubrication System
Lubrication of the complete Trackmobile can be achieved from a central grease block consisting of multiple fittings. The grease is distributed to the various designated wear points by means of high pressure hoses. The installation of a centralized lubrication system can greatly reduce the time and labor required to properly lubricate the Trackmobile.
Coupler / Extended / Automatic Weight Transfer
The extended automatic weight transfer coupler can be substituted for the standard automatic weight transfer coupler. When using the extended automatic weight transfer coupler, the Trackmobile will more efficiently handle railcars on track with an exceptionally high degree of curvature and/or specialty type railcars with appendages that may otherwise interfere with the normal Trackmobile operation. The extended coupler will increase the curvature the Trackmobile and railcars can negotiate by approximately 35 percent. The total function of the extended automatic weight transfer coupler is controlled from the operator's cab.
Defroster Fan / Additional / Operator's Cab
An additional defroster fan is very beneficial in geographic locations that experience long periods of high humidity and/or cold temperatures. The defroster fan is electrically operated and is mounted above the rear windshield in the operator's cab.
Engine Block Heater
Used to maintain heat within the engine's cooling system, which promotes easier starting in geographical areas with colder temperatures. The engine block heater is electrically powered from a 110 volt / AC source.
Ether Start / Diesel Engine Only
Automatic / Temperature Activated. Permits easier starting of diesel engines during periods of cold temperatures. When outside temperature is forty (40) degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 Celsius) or lower, the engine automatically receives a shot of ether as the ignition key is turned to the start position.
Fire Extinguisher
Five (5) pound (2.3 kilograms) dry powder type. The fire extinguisher is mounted inside the operator's cab for easy accessibility.
Foam Filled Tires
Prevents punctures and loss of air from pneumatic tires. Most useful when operating in an environment where a large amount of debris is present on the ground.
GCS (Ground Control System)
Pocket sized radio remote control emergency train brake applicator. Multiple keys for emergency brake application. Waterproof-sealed against weather. Long lasting battery with low power warning light. Operating range more than 1200 feet [370 meters]. Range test/cab audio alarm function. Frequency-hopping technology. No FCC license required.
Heater / Hydraulic Oil Tank
Used when extreme cold weather is prevalent, usually in conjunction with an engine block heater and a transmission oil heater. Available in both 110 and 220 volt AC.
Heater / Transmission Oil
Used when extreme cold weather is prevalent, usually in conjunction with an engine block heater and a hydraulic oil reservoir tank heater.
MAX-TRAC / Wheel Slip Control / Accelerating & Braking
The wheel slip control system monitors the relationship between the ground speed and the wheel speed. When the Trackmobile experiences wheel slippage under acceleration, the control modulates the engine fuel control and lightly applies the brakes to quickly bring the wheel slippage under control. The system is electronic and reacts in milliseconds which is much faster than the human reaction to a wheel slippage occurrence.
The system also detects when the rail wheels begin to lockup relative to ground speed and pulsates the brake system to provide near the maximum braking available. (Note: a locked rail wheel's coefficient of friction is less than rolling wheel friction).
The wheel slip control system will reduce rail wheel wear from spinning under acceleration and flat spots occurring under brake lock-up. This system is recommended for use in conjunction with radio control as the operator may not be near the machine to determine if he or she is spinning-out or applying the brakes to severely.
MAX-TRAN / Fully Automatic Weight Transfer System
"MAX-TRAN" assures maximum weight transfer and tractive effort. It eliminates operator guesswork when moving empty, part empty or part loaded, or fully loaded railcars. Whatever the gross weight of the railcar, or railcars, coupled to the Trackmobile, "MAX-TRAN" detects that amount of weight and then borrows a sufficient amount of weight from the railcar(s) to produce the maximum attainable tractive effort.
The "MAX-TRAN" automatic weight transfer system has a microprocessor based controller which contains system software that controls the actuator operations and ensures proper and continuous full-time maximum allowable weight transfer with empty, part empty or part loaded, or fully loaded railcars. The system also includes pressure sensors, hydraulic valves and operator interface, in the form of two (2) mode control toggle switches, three (3) indicator panel lights, and two (2) joysticks.
Retrofit kits are available for the machines manufactured prior to June 1, 1994.
Radiator Shutters
Used with a conventional thermostat to give more accurate engine heat control. The shutter assembly restricts the amount of air that passed through the radiator until proper engine operating temperature is achieved.
Radio Remote Control System
Trackmobile developed Radio Control System comes with portable transmitter with control functions for engine throttle control, train air brake emergency and graduated application, Trackmobile service brakes, transmission forward and reverse, transmission upshift/downshift switch, air blast horn, sand application, front and rear coupler knuckle open, front and rear coupler raise and lower, and front and rear coupler traverse. No FCC license required. Lightweight, long battery life, 900 MHz transmitter and receiver, 12 or 24 volt options. Includes MAX-TRAN & MAX-TRAC, external remote control shutdown, external warning light/remote, and air/electric horn.
Safety Step Lights
Lights are mounted on the Trackmobile steps. There is a manual "On" / "Off" switch in the operator's cab to be used during night-time operations, allowing better vision when mounting and dismounting the machine.
Seat / Operator's / Air Ride / Dual Directional With Seat Belt
Dual directional operator's seat allows for the operation of the Trackmobile in both directions when in the rail-mode, and forward only when in the road-mode. The air ride seat is adjustable to both the operator's height and weight. There is a seat belt to be worn when operating in the road-mode.
Snow Plow "V" Shaped / Rail-Mode Only
For use when the Trackmobile is in the rail-mode only. Facilitates the removal of snow from the tracks.
Spotlight / Roof Mounted
The spotlight is roof mounted on the top left-front quarter of the operator's cab. It is extremely useful during night operations. The light beam can be directed 360 degrees horizontally, as well as raised and lowered vertically.
Strobe Warning Light / Amber / Roof Mounted
Electronic strobe light is roof mounted on the top center of the operator's cab. The strobe light is used as a highly visible flashing signal to indicate the Trackmobile is in the operational mode. Amber is the standard lens color.
Track Mirrors / Cab Side / Front & Rear
Two (2) large west coast type mirrors mounted on the outside of the operator's cab at the far front & rear of the cab. These mirrors assist the operator in seeing along the railcars and/or track on the side of the machine where he or she is positioned. They also assist when working on curves, etc.
Track Mirror / Off Side / Front & Rear
Two (2) large west coast type mirrors mounted on the handrails near the front and rear of the machine. The mirrors are located on the opposite side of the operator's cab. The track mirrors allow the operator to see along the railcars and/or along the track on the opposite side from where he or she is positioned in the Trackmobile. It also assists when working on reverse curves, etc.
Turn Signals
Standard truck-type turn signals for use when operating in the road-mode to signal the direction the operator is turning the Trackmobile. The turn signals are visible from both the front and rear of the machine.
Window Shades
Used on front windshield. Greatly enhances operator comfort by cooling inside of operator cab.
